Expression of Interest: V20 Liaison Officer in Accra, Ghana

The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) requests Expressions of Interest in order to execute and implement high level services in accordance with developing and implementing GCAs varied communications service needs.

The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) is an international organization that works as a solutions broker to catalyze action and support for adaptation solutions, from the international to the local, in partnership with the public and private sector, to ensure we learn from each other and work together for a climate resilient future. Adapting to impacts of climate change provides a “win-win” for health, livelihoods, food security, water supply, human security and economic growth. The work of the GCA elevates the visibility and political importance of climate adaptation and facilitates solutions, such as smarter investments, new technologies and better planning to become more resilient to climate-related threats. GCA has offices in Rotterdam and Groningen, The Netherlands, and regional offices in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Dhaka (Bangladesh) and Beijing (China).

GCA is in need of an experienced Contractor to act as a Liaison Officer for the Vulnerable 20 Group (V20) in Accra, Ghana. The Contractor will support the Program Coordinator in the implementation of V20 activities with a specific focus on the Africa region. They will be responsible for securing strong engagement from African V20 member states in V20 activities and will support the incoming V20 Presidency of Ghana in the implementation of their priorities.

The Consultant will be part of the GCA CVF & V20 Support Program and they will report to the V20 Program Coordinator. The Consultant will be based in Accra, Ghana, and will be contracted for a period of 12 months full time.

If you wish to submit a proposal to provide the above services, please provide evidence of the following:

  • That you hold a degree in economics, finance, sustainability or a related field and have 5 years working experience in climate finance or a related field.
  • That you have at least 5 years of experience engaging with the challenges faced by vulnerable countries with regards to access to financing, climate risk, as well as the development of solutions to these issues.
  • That you have at least 5 years of experience building and maintaining a network across the sub-Saharan African region.
  • Provide two written references from past projects/employers.
  • That you have native proficiency in English and a command of French.
  • That you can be present and are eligible to work in Accra, Ghana.
