This webinar will discuss the challenges facing youth-led climate adaptation enterprises in scaling up, accessing resources and financing.

Young people in African communities are developing innovative solutions to their local problems, reducing their vulnerability, and enhancing their communities’ resilience one climate change innovation at a time. However, they need to get adequate support in pushing climate adaptation efforts in Africa. They need access to financing to develop and grow these initiatives. There is an urgent need to achieve the following:

  • Identify the hindrances to innovation in climate adaptation in Africa, such as gaps in access to resources and financing for youth-led climate change and adaptation enterprises.
  • Highlight the role of public and private sector partnerships in financing youth-led climate change and adaptation initiatives.
  • Discuss how governments can create an enabling environment for youth-led climate change and adaptation initiatives.
  • To hold discussions on mobilizing private sector climate financing options and how SMEs can better position themselves to acquire funding.

Scope:
Discussions around the challenges facing youth-led climate adaptation enterprises in scaling up, accessing resources and financing. What are these challenges? Where and what are the opportunities? How can they be made accessible to young innovators and entrepreneurs?

  • Panel discussions with three speakers and a moderator to share perspectives on the factors that limit access to financing for youth-led climate adaptation enterprises, what resources are available to them, and the way forward in improving access to finance for SMEs with innovations in climate adaptation in Africa.
