Key partners
African Development Bank Group
The African Development Bank (AfDB) and GCA have joined forces to use their complementary expertise, resources and networks to partner on a bold Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program. This will support African countries in making the transformational shift required to put climate adaptation and resilience at the center of critical growth-orientated and inclusive policies, programs and institutions.
Climate Vulnerable Forum
As Managing Partner of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), GCA works with the leadership of its 48 member countries from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America and the Pacific, representing some 1.2 billion people worldwide. Founded in November 2009 by the Maldives with 10 other countries, the CVF is the international forum for countries most threatened by climate change. CVF serves as a South-South cooperation platform for participating governments to act together to deal with global climate change and is active in building cooperation, knowledge and awareness on climate change issues.
Africa Adaptation Initiative
As the lead coordinating partner of the Africa Adaptation Initiative (AAI), GCA works with African Heads of State to address the adaptation financing gap, and implement measures to address disaster risk reduction and resilience needs in Africa. The AAI was developed and launched in Paris during the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP) in December 2015. GCA supports its work delivering high-level pan-African and regional dialogues, adaptation action on the ground and cross-sector processes to strengthen collaboration on adaptation across Africa.
