Training of Trainers (ToT) on Developing a Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) Compendium for Urban Resilience in Kenya
The Training of Trainers (ToT) on Developing a Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) Compendium for Urban Resilience in Kenya is a capacity-building initiative designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to implement and promote NbS in urban environments. This training is part of GCA’s support to the Second Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP2), a World Bank-financed project led by the State Department for Housing and Urban Development (SDHUD) in collaboration the Council of Governors (CoG).
Event description
Kenya’s rapid urbanization presents both opportunities and challenges, including increased climate risks such as flooding, drought, and environmental degradation. Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) offer sustainable, cost-effective approaches to enhancing climate resilience by leveraging natural ecosystems. This ToT will ensure that urban planners, policymakers, and technical experts can effectively implement NbS, fostering greener, more resilient cities.
Objectives of the Training
- Strengthen Capacity: Equip participants with trainer skills to effectively guide stakeholders in integrating NbS into urban resilience strategies.
- Enhance Practical Understanding: Provide actionable guidance on prioritizing, implementing, and maintaining NbS in Kenyan cities.
- Support Project Implementation: Enable stakeholders to apply NbS solutions in real-world urban development projects under KUSP2.
