The Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Climate Risks in Investments in Kenya will be the opportunity to present the climate risk assessment and a list of adaptation measures options and facilitate discussions for sustainable adaptation strategies for the road upgrading project.

Event description

The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) is organizing a virtual “Dialogue on Climate Risks in Investments” as part of the technical support for Investment Prioritization for Resilient Transport Asset Management for the Lesseru-Kitale and Morpus-Lokichar Road Upgrading Project in Kenya. This event aims to facilitate comprehensive discussions on climate change risks and possible adaptation solutions in Kenya.

This technical assistance is implemented as part of the African Adaptation Acceleration Program, a joint initiative from GCA, the African Union and the African Development Bank, to increase access to climate finance and mainstream climate adaptation in investment projects. GCA has appointed a consortium led by Royal HaskoningDHV (RHDHV), in association with Lobelia Earth and Rebel Group, to implement this technical assistance in the transport project.

The virtual stakeholder dialogue serves as the second dialogue to support the road investment project in Kenya. The primary objectives of the dialogue are to discuss the findings from the climate risk assessment building on the first risk dialogue and present the long list of adaptation measures options. The dialogue will also facilitate discussions with participants, which include policymakers, technical experts, academicians, and practitioners, to identify effective strategies for addressing climate risks in the transport project in Kenya.
