The University of Oxford, in partnership with the Global Centre for Adaptation (GCA), supported by UK International Development with funds from the UK government, is developing advanced analytical tools to identify and map opportunities for Nature-based Solutions (NbS) that support infrastructure resilience. These tools establish a common set of robust metrics to quantify the benefits of NbS, including resilience, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity enhancement. By providing actionable insights, they help investors and governments prioritize NbS investments that offer both financial viability and measurable social impact.

Event description

In this context, the final consultation of Multilateral Development Banks, Development Finance Institutions, and Investors, on Scaling investments in Nature-based Solutions for Climate Resilient Infrastructure is scheduled for 28 February 2025 at the University of Oxford.  The consultation will directly contribute to the finalization of the set of global-scale spatial and financial analytics to support investments in NbS, that will be released online following up the event.

This consultation will also mark the initiation of a series of Financers roundtables for Nature-Based Solutions aimed at fostering collaboration between policymakers, financial institutions, and private investors to unlock investments in NbS.

The roundtables will serve as a vital platform to explore strategies for integrating NbS into infrastructure planning and climate adaptation efforts. By addressing key knowledge gaps, it helps quantify climate risks, assess the protective value of natural assets, and identify investment opportunities to mainstream NbS in climate adaptation strategies
