Event description:
On 23 September 2020 during the Community-based Adaptation Conference (CBA14), the Youth Adaptation Network held its first Intergenerational Dialogue with representatives from the Global Center on Adaptation, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the UK COP26 team. The session, titled “The Generation Gap”, was tagged the most geographically diverse session in the history of the CBA conference with the participation of over 50 young adaptation leaders from every region of the world. The Intergenerational Dialogue explored how current adaptation and development policies can be designed to respect the radically different priorities of new generations. Main outcomes of the session included the urgent need for stocktaking the commitments of institutions towards youth engagement on adaptation and incentivizing youth participation in climate dialogues.
