Equality in Action – Gender-Responsive Climate Adaptation Training Session
Event description
The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) has been supporting Bangladesh in accelerating and scaling up climate adaptation solutions, aligning with the national priorities set in the Bangladesh National Adaptation Plan (2023–2050). With the support of the Government of Bangladesh—particularly the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—and in collaboration with both local and international partners, GCA has advanced work across three core programs: Locally Led Adaptation (LLA), Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for systemic resilience, and Climate Finance (CF).
While considerable progress has been made, embedding a gender lens across these programs remains a priority. GCA aims to strengthen dialogue and action on gender by engaging local NGOs, developing outreach strategies, and ensuring that intersectionality—particularly the compounded vulnerabilities of women with disabilities and women from minority groups—is addressed.
Building on these efforts, GCA will convene a high-level training session for its partners: Equality in Action – Driving Gender-Responsive Climate Adaptation.
This training session will be conducted with the generous support of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC)
Objective
To strengthen the capacity of partners to integrate gender-responsive and inclusive approaches into climate adaptation initiatives, ensuring more equitable and sustainable outcomes.
Expected Outcomes
- Build a shared understanding of core gender equality and social inclusion concepts and why they matter for effective climate adaptation.
- Recognize the intersectional dimensions of vulnerability (e.g., gender, age, disability) and their implications for inclusive climate responses.
- Gain familiarity with practical tools—such as gender analysis, theory of change, and gender-sensitive indicators—and understand how they can be applied in climate-related programs.
- Identify opportunities to integrate gender-responsive approaches into policy, planning, and community engagement for sustainable impact.
