GCA and CGIAR Partnership Stocktake
Building Resilient Food Systems through Partnership: Reflecting on 15 months of Collaboration and Creating a Way Forward
Event description
CGIAR and the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) have partnered to streamline agricultural climate adaptations into International Financial Institutions (IFIs) project design. GCAs mission is to mainstream adaptation into IFI investments. CGIAR’s centers have been on the forefront of technological advancements to protect the agricultural sector and rural populations from climate change-related disasters. Therefore, by partnering, CGIAR provides technologies that GCA identifies as necessary to properly protect target groups against climate change by accelerating the adoption and mainstreaming CGIAR innovations in IFI/MDB investment portfolio.
The partners met in Nairobi in March 2024 and in Ibadan in May 2024 to formalize the partnership, agree on objectives and working modalities. Over the past year, the partnership has been implemented through different IFI projects in various countries. This meeting in September 2025 will mark the 15-month anniversary of the partnership and is a time to take stock of our progress, discuss improvements, and look at generating more impact on a larger scale.
Objectives
The objectives of this two-day meeting are twofold:
- Taking Stock: to assess shared understanding of the partnership, what we have achieved together, how the partnership works, and key lessons learned.
- Moving Forward: based on the past 15 months, we want to make sure we improve the partnership and its impact. Sessions will focus on improving collaboration, increasing influence on IFI partners and how to measure influence, what approaches and technologies we can scale for impact, and finally on how we will deliver these new ambitions.
