Masterclass for Scaling Up Climate-Resilient Infrastructure Public-Private Partnerships in Africa
The six-session masterclass will build on the Global Center on Adaptation’s technical experience in mainstreaming climate adaptation and resilience in infrastructure development projects and will leverage existing collaboration between the African Development Bank and GCA through the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program.

As part of the capacity building initiatives delivered through the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP), GCA is delivering Masterclass on Mainstreaming Climate Resilience into Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in Africa. Building on the success of the first masterclass in Ghana, the second masterclass of this initiative will bring together officials from the African Development Bank (AfDB) in a collaborative event designed as a training and knowledge-sharing platform.
The six-session masterclass will build on GCA’s technical experience in mainstreaming climate adaptation and resilience in infrastructure development projects and will leverage existing collaboration between AfDB and GCA through AAAP. The program will also be used as a platform to share experiences and lessons learned by development finance and private sector stakeholders. Based on case studies and practical insights, attendees will explore and discuss how climate resilience and adaptation measures can be enhanced in PPP projects, and can further secure and attract investments in the African region.
Program:
The Masterclass will be delivered through six sessions, spread across two weeks to explore how climate risks and resilience options can be mainstreamed in the different phases of PPP projects:
- Session 1: Why Climate Resilient Infrastructure PPPs?
- Sessions 2 and 3: Climate risk and climate change risk: tools for considering climate impacts
- Session 4: Climate finance and nature-based solutions
- Session 5: Climate-resilient PPP procurement
- Session 6: Climate-resilient PPP contracts
