Event description
The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) will host the second edition of its flagship Leaders’ Dialogue on Global Climate Adaptation Action: Shaping Resilient Futures on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Thursday, 25 September 2025. Co-convened with the Governments of Norway and Kenya, the Dialogue will bring together leaders from Africa, the Asia-Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean, alongside partner governments and institutions advancing the global climate adaptation agenda.
Objectives
The main objectives of the GCA UNGA Leaders’ event include the following:
- Reaffirm high-level political commitment to accelerate adaptation action globally.
- Build momentum towards COP30 by aligning on adaptation targets and financing priorities under the UAE–Belém and Baku-to-Belém frameworks.
- Showcase country-led and GCA-supported solutions, particularly under the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP) and further regional initiatives.
