On the sidelines of the Second Africa Climate Summit

In 2025 in the lead up to COP30, the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), in partnership with local youth organizations, will organize “African Youth Adaptation Forums” to build a network of youth engaged with adaptation and spotlight youth-led adaptation solutions.

The sixth Youth Adaptation Forum was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on the 7th of September. It is organized by GCA, the Youth Print, Ministry of Planning and Development, and Addis Ababa University.

The forum prepared a Youth Communiqué, highlighting the needs and recommendations of young people. The results from each forum will be showcased and presented at COP30 in Brazil.

Session Format
The Forum brought together students, youth-led organizations, universities, government representatives, and adaptation experts to engage in an adaptation exchange. Together, young people shared their needs for building a climate-resilient future, as well as recommendations for governments and decision-makers. Their ideas and demands will be carried directly to global leaders at the Second Africa Climate Summit.
