Youth Adaptation Forum Zambia

Alongside the UNFCCC NAP Expo

Event description

In 2025 in the lead up to COP30, the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), in partnership with local youth organizations, will organize “African Youth Adaptation Forums” to build a network of youth engaged with adaptation and spotlight youth-led adaptation solutions.

The fourth Youth Adaptation Forum was held in Lusaka, Zambia on 8^th and 9^th August 2025. It is organised by GCA, Inclusive Education for Sustainable Development (IESD) and the University of Zambia.

Session Format
The Forum brought together over 280 students, youth-led organizations, universities, government representatives, and adaptation experts to engage in an adaptation exchange. Young people had the opportunity to share their needs for building a climate-resilient future, as well as recommendations for governments and decision-makers.

The Youth Adaptation Forum in Zambia delivered a Youth Communiqué to Hon. Mike Mposha, Minister of Green Economy & Environment of Zambia, highlighting the needs and recommendations of young people, which will be presented at the GCA’s 8th AAAP Partnership Forum during the NAP-Expo 2025. The results from each forum will be showcased and presented at the Youth Adaptation Forum in Brazil and to global leaders at COP30.
