GCA Announces Winner of the 2025 Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day Logo Competition

otterdam, Netherlands, 31 March 2025 – The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) is pleased to announce that Mr. Parfait Kamta Nkontcheu of Cameroon has been selected as the winner of the 2025 Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day Logo Competition. Parfait, a 30-year-old graphic designer with a background in climate solutions, will have his design featured in the upcoming Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day on 12 October 2025.
Launched in February, the competition was open to young people aged 18 to 35 who are passionate about driving climate adaptation. Submissions were received from fourteen countries—including Kenya, Qatar, Chad, Cameroon, Zambia, Uganda, Bangladesh, Ghana, DRC, Burkina Faso, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Liberia, and Tanzania—before the deadline on 19 March 2025.
Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day
Organized by GCA and held in over 100 countries, Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day is a global event designed to engage youth in climate adaptation efforts. The 2025 theme, “Nationally Determined Contributions, Youth, and Adaptation,” highlights how young people are key stakeholders in achieving resilience and fulfilling climate commitments outlined under the Paris Agreement.
Key Goals for 2025:
- Expand the youth adaptation movement: Encourage a diverse range of youth voices to participate in local and global adaptation efforts.
- Educate youth on climate adaptation: Raise awareness of climate resilience strategies, especially focusing on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
- Promote youth-led adaptation actions globally, particularly in Africa: Spotlight initiatives led by young people, reinforcing how climate adaptation can strengthen resilient economies and communities.
