Bangladesh Climate Resilient Infrastructure Investment Roadmap

The Bangladesh Climate Resilient Infrastructure Investment Roadmap – Technical Report presents a strategic framework to strengthen the resilience of Bangladesh’s infrastructure systems against escalating climate risks, including flooding, cyclones, sea-level rise, and extreme weather events. Developed through a collaboration between the Government of Bangladesh and the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), the report builds on the findings of the national Climate Resilient Infrastructure Stress Test assessment.

From vulnerability to resilience: a nature-first approach for coastal towns in Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s coastal towns are increasingly exposed to rising sea levels, salinity intrusion, flooding, erosion, and extreme heat, placing growing pressure on urban infrastructure, ecosystems, and livelihoods. To support more resilient urban development pathways, the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) is launching From Vulnerability to Resilience: A Nature-First Approach for Coastal Towns, a climate resilience assessment covering 22 coastal Pourashavas in Bangladesh, including detailed analyses of Bagerhat, Chalna, Morelganj, and Kuakata.

Healthcare System-of-Systems Vulnerability

This report presents healthcare as a complex system of systems—a network of interdependent components including water, energy, waste, digital and transport services, all susceptible to climate-related hazards. This interconnectedness makes health infrastructure especially vulnerable to climate change, as disruptions in one area can trigger cascading effects across the entire system. By mapping these interdependencies, this report identifies targeted adaptation strategies to prevent such chain reactions and ensure the continuous delivery of healthcare services.

WBG Somalia Urban Resilience Program II

After more than three decades of civil war, Somalia faces overlapping challenges of fragility and weak governance, conflict, and rapidly intensifying climate impacts. A 2023 World Bank study found that over half of all Internally Displaced People (IDPs) since 2016 were displaced by failed rainy seasons. More people are now displaced by climate than by conflict. Additionally, many urban residents live in informal settlements with poor services, insecure tenure, and heightened exposure to floods and wildfires.

Madagascar Adaptation Investment Pipeline and Financing Instruments

The Madagascar: Adaptation Investment Pipeline and Financing  Instruments report presents a forward-looking Adaptation Investment Pipeline for the country, identifying priority investments required to safeguard economic stability and protect vulnerable populations. It highlights transport as the backbone of the economy, highly exposed urban systems concentrated in a small number of cities, and critical needs in agriculture, water, energy, health, and the blue economy. Building on Madagascar’s strong policy foundations (NAP, NDC, PANEDD), the analysis translates climate risk into a structured investment agenda focused on integrating resilience into development planning, scaling climate-resilient infrastructure, and strengthening governance and preparedness systems. The report provides an evidence-based roadmap for mobilizing adaptation finance at scale and aligning investments with the country’s long-term development trajectory.
