The impact of climate change is not gender neutral. Climate-related disasters exacerbate existing gender inequalities, disproportionately impacting women and girls who often bear the brunt of the climate crisis. Women are underrepresented in policy and decision-making processes, limiting their influence over the very issues affecting their lives and livelihoods.
Yet, women should be seen not as mere victims of climate change but as vital agents of change, capable of designing and implementing adaptation solutions. With their unique local knowledge and firsthand experience, women are instrumental in creating effective, sustainable strategies for adaptation.
