Climate Adaptation for the Rwanda Urban Mobility Improvement Project
Event description
The World Bank Group Rwanda Urban Mobility Improvement Project aims to improve urban mobility and accessibility in Kigali, supporting the implementation of national and city strategic development plans. The project will strengthen connections within Kigali and to the rest of Rwanda and neighboring countries. It includes investments in the Nyabugogo multi-modal transit terminal, pilot Dedicated Bus Lanes (DBLs), and the promotion of e-mobility solutions.
GCA is providing technical assistance to the WBG to strengthen climate resilience in the RUMI Project with a focus on the Nyabugogo terminal and DBL corridors and has appointed Haskoning to conduct the assessment. In the 3rd mission scheduled for September 2025, the aim is to finalize and validate Grey Adaptation and Resilience Appraisal and Technical Guidelines for Implementation and Climate Financing Rationale for project implementation by ensuring uptake of results that closely align with stakeholder needs. This will be achieved through discussions on the Adaptation & Resilience Options Appraisal Report and the Technical Guidelines.
