Event description

The Global Center on Adaptation, in partnership with the Public Private Partnerships Unit of the Ministry of Finance Planning & Economic Development in Uganda, will host the Masterclass on Climate Resilient Infrastructure Public-Private Partnerships from the 25th to the 28th of November 2024 in Kampala. During the four-day program, participants will explore how to conduct climate risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and develop adaptation strategies to bolster infrastructure resilience. They will acquire practical tools to incorporate climate considerations into project management for infrastructure projects and learn about Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to facilitate effective collaborations between public and private sector entities.

By identifying key entry points across the PPP project cycle where resilience measures can be effectively incorporated, this case-study-driven approach will enable participants to engage with real-world scenarios, critically analyse challenges, and apply theoretical frameworks. Practical examples will illustrate how resilience can be embedded at various stages, while relevant tools and methodologies will be provided to enhance practitioners’ ability to make informed, evidence-based decisions. This approach not only fosters problem-solving skills but also empowers practitioners to integrate best practices in climate resilience, ultimately strengthening the long-term sustainability of infrastructure projects.
