Event description

The University of Nairobi, in partnership with the Global Center on Adaptation, will host the second edition of the Climate Adaptation Changemakers School from the 28th to 31st of October 2024. During the four-day program, participants will explore how to conduct climate risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and develop adaptation strategies to bolster infrastructure resilience. They will acquire practical tools to incorporate climate considerations into project management for infrastructure projects and learn about Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to facilitate effective collaborations between public and private sector entities.

Practical examples will illustrate how resilience can be embedded at various stages, while relevant tools and methodologies will be provided to enhance practitioners’ ability to make informed, evidence-based decisions. By identifying key entry points across the PPP project cycle where resilience measures can be effectively incorporated, this case-study-driven approach will enable participants to engage with real-world scenarios, critically analyze challenges, and apply theoretical frameworks. Emphasizing strategic approaches and resource mobilization techniques, the event will empower practitioners to access funding for climate-resilient infrastructure projects, drawing upon the expertise of the Climate-Resilient PPPs Masterclasses to provide actionable insights and case studies for implementation.
