Global Youth Dialogue on Adaptation Action to set key milestone towards COP27

The Global Goal on Adaptation has a vital need for global youth’s visions, creative solutions and energy to propel climate adaptation action, ahead of the landmark ‘Africa COP27’ at Sharm El-Sheikh in November this year. To that end, young people from around the world will gather both in Rotterdam and online for the Youth Dialogue on Adaptation Action: Delivering on the Glasgow Climate Pact that will showcase adaptation solutions and accelerate adaptation action.

O n 3-4 September, the Youth Dialogue on Adaptation Action: Delivering on the Glasgow Climate Pact will be convened by the Global Center on Adaptation and its Youth Advisory Panel. This exciting Youth Dialogue will bring together young people from around the world and global leaders to accelerate adaptation action. The Dialogue is a stepping stone in ensuring youth’s perspectives and solutions are promoted to deliver on the Glasgow Climate Pact and the adaptation agenda, leading up to COP27 and beyond.

Together with the 1.5-degree goal, the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) is a pivotal component of the Paris Agreement. The GGA seeks to enhance our capacity to adapt, strengthen our resilience and reduce vulnerabilities to climate change.

It is imperative for young people to actively engage with adaptation policy and implementation, not only because young people will suffer the most from climate change in the coming years, but also because they are powerful agents of change today. Click To Tweet

Connecting and promoting global youth perspectives

The Youth Dialogue on Adaptation Action builds on seven regional Youth Adaptation Forums that took place around the world from Dakar to New York, and from San José to Bonn, to help identify youth’s recommendations on accelerating the adaptation agenda.

Young people from around the world showed their commitment to climate action and got in touch to take part in the event. To allow as many people as possible to contribute toward these important discussions, this event is being organized in a hybrid format. With thousands of applicants from over 120 countries, the hybrid format will allow young people to connect virtually from all over the world, with interpretation available in English, French, Spanish and Arabic.
