Africa regional launch of the Climate Action for Jobs Initiative
Accelerating climate adaptation in Africa with decent work and a just transition for all
Event description:
The International Labour Organization (ILO) and its tripartite constituents hosted a regional launch of the Climate Action for Jobs Initiative on 21 April 2021. The launch provided a platform for ILO constituents, national experts, development partners and international institutions to share perspectives on how to accelerate climate action with decent work and a just transition for all.
Prof. Anthony Nyong, Regional Director, GCA Africa participated in the event, and highlighted that the just transition is not just about emissions reductions, but also about transformational adaptation that leaves no one behind. Prof. Nyong noted that this is what the Global Centre on Adaptation and the African Development Bank are implementing through the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program.
