Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day Logo Competition

Background

The Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day, organized by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) on the 12th of October, is the largest-running annual youth adaptation event. In 2024, the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day took place in over 73 countries. 
To kick off celebrations for the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025, the Global Center on Adaptation is thrilled to launch the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day Logo Competition. The competition aims to showcase the creativity and talents of young people in driving the adaptation agenda and strengthening resilient economies around the world. 
In 2025, the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day theme will be “Nationally Determined Contributions, Youth, and Adaptation” to mark the submissions of NDCs which will be made in 2025 under the Paris Agreement

Objective

The competition aims to create a logo for the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025 which will be used in all promotional and outreach materials. 

Who can participate?

Young people between the ages of 18-35 who are interested in climate adaptation are welcome to enter the logo competition. 

How to submit your logo

  • All submissions must be made following the guidelines below by the 19th March 2025 at 23:59 CEST to youth@gca.org  
  • The email subject line must include reference to the Logo Competition 
  • The email should contain your name, country, and age 

Design Guidelines

  • The Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025 logo should incorporate the words “Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025” and the slogan “NDCs, Youth and Adaptation.”  
  • The Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025 logo should not include (neither fully or partially) the existing Global Center on Adaptation logo.  
  • The Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025 logo should be considered as the identifier for the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025.  
  • Elements can be used that are relevant to GCA: climate adaptation, Nationally Determined Contributions, and youth, youth networks, youth solidarity.  
  • Colors should be vibrant, modern, and aligned with the GCA branding guidelines. Please only use: HEX: 0B5FBA; 868686; CDCDCD; F2F2F2; 008BD7; 00B0CE; 000000; 00D0AB; F9F871.  
  • Typography can be uppercase or lowercase, but should be clear and legible at all sizes.  
  • Typography should be aligned with the GCA branding guidelines. Please use: Roboto, Roboto Condensed and Calibri (please note that Roboto Mono is not recommended)   
  • The logo should not be filled with texture or image (photos)  
  • The logo should be simple, modern, and memorable.  
  • The logo should be in 2d format (3D version is not recommended)   
  • The logo should be suitable for use across various platforms and media (e.g., websites, social media, print materials, merchandise).  
  • The logo should be easily adaptable for use on different backgrounds.  
  • The logo should have a transparent background.  
  • The logo should be appealing and relatable to young people between the ages of 18-35 from all backgrounds.  
  • The design should be original, unique, easy to recognise and reproduce, and not infringe on any existing copyrights or trademarks.   
  • The logo should follow general logo dimensions:  
    ‣ Square format: 1000×1000 px or 500×500 px  
    ‣ Horizontal format: 250×100 px or 400×100 px  
    ‣ Vertical format: 100×250 px or 100×400 px  
    Since the logo will be used across various formats, it must be scalable without losing clarity.  

Logo Requirements

  • A high-resolution logo PNG file with transparent background.  
  • The original vector file (e.g.,  AI, EPS, SVG, etc) at a minimum of 1000×1000 px.  
  • A set of colour variations:  
    ‣ Full-colour version (aligned with GCA branding)  
    ‣ Black and White version   
    ‣ Corresponding Pantone, CMYK, and RGB values for all colours used  
  • Submitted files should be named: YCAADlogo_[Color]_[DesignerName]   

Evaluation Criteria

The logos will be evaluated based upon: 

  • Originality 
  • Visual appeal, 
  • Correspondence to the theme, 
  • Compliance to the guideline

Competition closed: 19th March 2025 at 23:59 CEST 
Competition winner announced: 26th March 2025  

Prize

The winner of the logo competition will receive recognition on the GCA website for their design and their design will be used on all promotional materials for the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025.
