t is only by adapting to climate change that Africa can reach its potential. Yet promised climate finance—which is necessary to underpin wider development goals—remains critically short of what is needed.
The Africa Climate Summit, co-hosted by the government of Kenya and the African Union Commission, aimed to deliver innovative green growth and climate finance solutions for Africa and the world. Climate adaptation solutions and the finance to scale them are at the heart of this approach.
President William Ruto of Kenya, who chairs the Committee of African Heads of States on Climate Change, has declared climate adaptation as a key priority for delivering “Africa’s march to sustainable economic transformation and green growth.”
