GCA launches the 2025 Local Adaptation Champions Awards

R otterdam, the Netherlands, June 19, 2025 — The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) has launched the 2025 Local Adaptation Champions Awards to celebrate and reward outstanding, innovative, and scalable locally led initiatives that effectively address climate change impacts and enhance resilience among vulnerable communities worldwide. 

Applicants can apply under the categories: 

  • Nature-Based Solutions: For community-led initiatives that use nature-based solutions to protect critical local infrastructure. 
  • Women’s Livelihoods: For community-led initiatives that enhance women’s entrepreneurship, economic empowerment and resilience. 
  • Citizen Science: For community-driven research initiatives that are needs-based, solutions-oriented, and have measurable impact on climate-vulnerable populations. 
  • Health: For locally led initiatives that strengthen community health and psychosocial resilience in response to the impacts of climate change. 

Application Details: Applications are open from June 6 to July 6, 2025. Eligible interventions must demonstrate tangible results, focus on the most vulnerable, and adhere to Locally Led Adaptation Principles.
