The aim of the workshops are to present, validate and discuss the results of the climate risk assessment to SNIM employees responsible for the port, rail, mines and community services.

Event description

On the 22nd and 24th of July, GCA hosted two Climate Risk Workshops for Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière (SNIM) employees in the port and mining towns of Nouadhibou and Zouérat respectively. These workshops are part of the support to the AfDB SNIM Logistics Capacity Expansion Program, which aims to strengthen the resilience of SNIM’s logistics and communities through a:

  • Climate risks analysis of logistics operations (mines, rail, port), residential infrastructure (schools, clinics, houses) and services (water, energy) for SNIM cities.
  • Targeted climate risk and adaptation socioeconomic analysis of SNIM worker communities.
  • Prioritization and appraisal of operational and institutional adaptation options.
  • Climate informed occupational health and safety guidelines
