Small islands face outsized climate impacts and require US$12 billion a year in climate finance to cope
Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program
The African Development Bank and the Global Center
on Adaptation joined forces to use their complementary expertise, resources and networks to develop and implement the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP). Since its launch in 2021, the AAAP has helped channel over $18bn to build climate resilience for nearly 60 million vulnerable people in 40 countries and created almost one million jobs.

Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025
The Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day, organized by the Global Center on Adaptation each year on the 12th of October, is the largest-running annual youth adaptation event taking place in over 100 countries around the world.
In 2025, the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day will highlight the critical connection between adaptation, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and youth.
The Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025 aims to:
- Build the youth adaptation movement with schools, universities, and youth organizations.
- Raise awareness and increase the knowledge of young people on climate adaptation.
- Drive knowledge sharing for youth-led adaptation actions in Africa and around the world.
