Turning Climate Risk into Resilient Investment Opportunities

A webinar will introduce the Handbook for Financial Institutions: Climate Adaptation Finance

7 July 2026, 13:30 CET

Climate change is transforming the risk and opportunity landscape for financial institutions. Rising climate-related losses, evolving disclosure requirements, and shifting market expectations are creating material challenges for financial stability but also new domains for investment and innovation.

Event description

This webinar will introduce the Handbook for Financial Institutions: Climate Adaptation Finance (CAF Handbook or Handbook) — a practical resource designed to help financial institutions integrate climate adaptation into their strategies, operations, and financing activities.

The Handbook is designed primarily for financial institution professionals working in strategy and business development, sustainability, risk management, and operations. It is also relevant for policymakers, regulators, development partners, and public- and private sector practitioners involved in developing or financing climate adaptation investments.

The Handbook was developed in 2025 through a collaborative process co-led by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), under the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP), and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), supported by Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, RebelGroup, and Haskoning, drawing on consultation with financial sector practitioners and development institutions.

The webinar, led by GCA in collaboration with EBRD, will bring together the author team and partners to introduce the Handbook and, more importantly, discuss its practical application for the financial sector and broader market uptake to unlock the financial value of adaptation investments, including improved asset resilience, stronger portfolios, and more sustainable growth.

We look forward to bringing together financial sector professionals, policymakers, regulators, development partners, investors, industry associations, climate finance practitioners, and other stakeholders through this webinar to introduce the Handbook, share insights on its practical application, and discuss pathways for advancing climate adaptation finance and scaling climate-resilient investments.
