United Nations Headquarters, Conference Room 9

22 March 2023, 18:30 EST

Leveraging the successes of the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP) and the lessons offered by Bangladesh’ experience, this high-level event at the UN 2023 Water Conference will serve as a launchpad to seek the replication of the AAAP delivery model in other geographic contexts, particularly Asia and the Small Island States

Event description:

The Global Center on Adaptation and the African Development Bank are co-convening a high-level event at the UN 2023 Water Conference, to situate water at the center of the international community’s response to climate change.

Key objectives:

  • Focus global leadership on the need to build resilience to climate change across Africa, Asia, Small Island Developing States, and all vulnerable nations.
  • Bring forward proven water solutions for a warming world to advance climate adaptation and a model of delivery to achieve impact at scale, and share lessons from the model of implementation in the AAAP.
  • Serve as a launchpad to seek the replication of the AAAP model in other regions, particularly Asia and Small Island States.

The high-level dialogue will feature statements and contributions from the following invited leaders across the fields of global politics and international finance.
