The Dialogue provides an opportunity for Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) member and observer countries of the CVF Africa and Middle East region to share challenges, successes and experiences in climate change policy, and develop collective policy priorities.

Event description:

The CVF Regional Dialogue will be co-hosted by Ethiopia, as the regional CVF Troika member, and Bangladesh, as CVF Chair, and aims to identify and promote headline climate change policy priorities for vulnerable developing countries of the CVF from the Africa and Middle East region.

The CVF Africa and Middle East Regional Dialogue’s outcomes, including a CVF regional communique, will feed into the global deliberations of the CVF ahead of and during the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) and contribute to the development of global momentum for the shared agenda of climate threatened nations throughout 2021.

The Dialogue will be held in a virtual format and includes a meeting of experts on 27 July 2021 (11:00 – 14:00 GMT + 3) preparatory to its ministerial segment on 29 July 2021 (11:00 – 12:30 GMT + 3). A dedicated half-day training for the CVF’s regional members and observers, organized by United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), will be held on the on 28th of July 2021 (11:00 – 14:00 GMT + 3).

The CVF Africa and Middle East Regional Dialogue follows the CVF Latin America and Caribbean Dialogue held on 23-24 June 2021, the outcome Communique of which can be read here.
