Patrick Verkooijen, CEO of the Global Center on Adaptation, speaks to BBC World at COP28 in Dubai, UAE about the need for developed nations to follow through on the promise to double adaptation finance to address the climate change impacts already affecting the developing world. Prof. Verkooijen draws the focus specifically to Africa, whose leaders have endorsed the Africa-led, Africa-owned Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP) and who have begun developing Adaptation Compacts – country-led investment roadmaps for adaptation.
