Adaptation Public Lecture and Intergenerational Dialogue
Driving Climate Action: The Central Role of Youth and Universities
The Intergenerational Dialogue’s objective was to promote climate resilience and adaptation to the youth, elevate youth voices, and increase the power of influence of young people in Bangladesh in the adaptation agenda
Event description:
Young people play a crucial role in the common goal of making Bangladesh climate resilient. In Bangladesh, young people make up nearly 20% of the total population, compared with 16% for the world as a whole. The next generation of adaptation leaders will emerge from the current youth activists who make the case for adaptation on local and global stage. Therefore, it is essential to engage with young people from a climate change perspective. GCA’s Youth Leadership Program aims to mobilize the next generation of adaptation leaders around the world, empowering young people to make the case for adaptation on the global stage and make their communities more climate resilient. The action areas are the Youth Adaptation Network, Youth Advisory Panel, Adaptation Jobs & Entrepreneurship, Capacity-Building and Adaptation Education, and Training for Young Women Leadership on Climate Adaptation.
Recognizing the transformative potential of adaptation solutions in creating jobs and opportunities in communities vulnerable to climate change, GCA is supporting youth-Led businesses and driving the agenda on repositioning adaptation as an economic and entrepreneurial opportunity for young people.
