GCA held its inaugural annual Ministerial Dialogue on Adaptation Action to serve as an annual platform and action-driving vehicle. The inaugural GCA Ministerial Dialogue, was chaired by H.E. Mr Ban Ki-moon, 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of GCA’s Board and had keynote addresses from U.S. Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, and Managing Director of the IMF and GCA Board Member, Kristalina Georgieva.  They were joined by contributions from Ministers from over 50 countries and other high profile speakers from international organizations.

Convened as part of the Climate Adaptation Summit, the Ministerial Dialogue was structured across three fundamental “Focus Streams” where the achievement of progress can deliver the most strategic and wide-ranging impact:

  • Ambition: Sustaining commitments, building understanding and forging solutions and tools to drive more ambitious adaptation action on the ground.
  • Financing: Mobilizing the billions and shifting the trillions to power a climate resilience transformation within the world economy.
  • Partnerships: Sharing best national/subnational adaptive efforts and innovative collaborative experiences to deliver the most effective results and international partnerships

Each year, the GCA Ministerial Dialogue will marshal and sustain the international community’s commitments, efforts and the robust partnerships necessary to promote a continuous acceleration of adaptation action globally.
